Congratulations to Michael Shackelford for being named O. Henry’s 2013-14 Teacher of the Year! Mr. Shackelford is involved in so many activities at our school–cheerleading, soccer, HEB camp, DJ’ing for dances, etc.–besides teaching social studies. His commitment to our students and parents is amazing. He represents all O. Henry employees’ high level of customer service and dedication to doing what’s best for our kids.…

O. Henry E-News: Week of Jan. 20

Wow! We had a lot of excitement this past week. Thursday was our little science accident and Friday our maintenance guy had his lift break in the Freeman gym. Throughout both events, our teachers and staff performed like pros and always kept the students’ safety our #1 priority. I am very proud of their quick thinking and appropriate responses. A big shout out to our local fire department–they were outstanding!

On a different note, our school was recognized for its superb student attendance for the 2nd six weeks marking period this year.…

Mustang Council
Our Campus Advisory Committee (Mustang Council) convenes on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 3:45 p.m., in the Distance Learning Lab. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Car Club

2013 Girls Basketball Season Summary

The Lady Mustangs basketball teams from O. Henry Middle School wrapped up their 2013 season in late December, with many successes to celebrate.

The 8th grade A team coached by Natalie Johnson finished with an 11-2 overall record, winning first place in the Bedichek tournament. They closed out their season with a one point victory over Gorzycki to repeat as West Zone champions.

The 8th grade B team compiled an overall record of 5-2, placing second in the West Zone behind Goryzycki.…
