NJHS inducts new members


The O. Henry chapter of the National Junior Honor Society held their annual Spring Induction Ceremony on May 14, 2014. Principal Pete Price welcomed the students and Mark Frances Kocurek, ’13-’14 NJHS President, led the 39 inductees in the Candlelight Pledge. Guest speaker for the event was Katherine Sasser, O. Henry graduate and future president of National Honor Society at Austin High School.

NJHS was founded in 1929, and today an estimated one million students participate in NJHS and NHS activities.…

NJHS Spring 2012 Induction Ceremony

On Wednesday, May 9 the National Junior Honor Society held their annual Spring Induction and Farewell Ceremony in Cafe O. Henry. Mr. David Freeman, O. Henry sixth grade counselor, was the featured speaker.

NJHS Officers led a candle-lighting ceremony followed by induction of new members by Mr. Freeman and NJHS Sponsor Amy Humphries. Ms. Humphries then recognized current members and expressed gratitude to the officers, parents, PTA, and teachers who have done so much for the O.…

No Name Calling Week student photos

With the goal of making O. Henry a friendlier, safer campus, students  participated in No Name Calling Week  from  Jan. 30 – Feb. 3rd.  The No Place For Hate coalition encouraged students to  dress in themes throughout the week and students participated in activities in their RODEO classes  that focused on thinking about how words and actions affect their peers.   Students in Ms. Tucker’s photojournalism classes produced photos that supported the event as well.

6th grade public service videos for Food and Coat Drive

Sixth grade World Cultures students created two public service videos under the direction of Mr. McNally in support of the ongoing Coat and Food Drive they are sponsoring with by the  National Junior Honor Society. To view these creative videos just click on the images below.

Don’t forget this is the final week of the Food and Coat Drive. We need your help in collecting healthy, non-perishable food items and new or gently worn coats. 

To help ensure that we meet our campus goal of 4 food items and 1 coat per student, some of our 6th graders will be posted at the front of the school from 7:45 AM to 8:00 AM on Friday and Monday to accept your donations.
