O. Henry Middle School Student Expectations

| After attending the student assembly on August 23, 2010, I am aware of and understand the following: |

If I choose to strike another student on school grounds, I may be immediately removed from school.
If I choose to verbally, physically, or sexually harass another student or students on school grounds, I may receive Saturday detention, ISS, suspension, or explusion. Let’s bully-proof our school! I am expected to maintain a 70 in every class. If I fail any course in a six week period, I will lose the privilege to participate in any extracurricular activity during the following three week period. If I am struggling academically, I will attend tutorials before, during, or after school. If I choose to wear inappropriate clothing to school, I may be asked to change, attend ISS, or be sent home from school. I may wear a hat to school but remove it upon entering the building. If my hair is dyed an unnatural color, I will be asked to wash out the color. I will walk on the right side of the hallway during passing periods and use an inside voice. I will be on time to class, so I can get prepared for the warm-up and lesson. If am having a problem with another student, my choices are the following: (a) ignore the student, (b) kindly, but assertively, address the student at an appropriate time and place and (c) contact an adult. I am expected to not chew gum anywhere in the school building – at any time! I am expected to use an Agenda each day. Cost: $6.00. I will make good choices in the Cafe O. Henry and keep my area clean. If I cause a disruption on the bus that results in a bus referral, the following consequences may occur: (a) warnings, (b) bus suspensions and/or (c) bus removal from the remainder of the semester or school year. Any expression of gang affiliation will not be tolerated. I will regularly attend school since it is critical to my success as a student – and it is the law! I will not sell, consume, or possess any illegal drugs or alcohol on campus. I will use a backpack to carry my binder, materials, and belongings to each class and keep it organized. I am expected to fully participate in RODEO activities. I will abide by all dance guidelines, including prompt pick-up at the end of the dance. I may use a bicycle or skateboard to travel to and from school, but I will not ride it on campus. I will do my best in the classroom, because I know that knowledge is power and leads to success. |
